Employers can include bank holidays in the 5.6 weeks (28 days). Many employers offer more than the statutory minimum. You accrue holiday from day one of employment.
Yes — employers can refuse or change holiday dates if they give appropriate notice (typically double the length of the holiday requested). However, they cannot prevent you from taking your statutory entitlement overall. Employers must not pay in lieu of statutory holiday except on termination.
