Employer notice (statutory minimum): under 1 month service — none; 1 month to 2 years — 1 week; 2–12 years — 1 week per complete year of service; 12+ years — 12 weeks maximum. Employee notice (statutory minimum): 1 week (after 1+ month). Contract notice overrides statutory if higher. "Garden leave" = working notice period at home on full pay.
